Something exciting is happening in our household: Mama is taking back some free-time! Books are a passion for me; I love reading. Love. It speaks to my soul and resets my moods no matter what is going on in life. As I get back into my groove of self-care, I’m going to be sharing what I’m reading and sometimes plans for the future. For the time being, this will be a monthly venture but it may become more often as I begin including what our children are reading and more. Have suggestions? Leave them in the comments below!

What I’m Reading Now
A Gracious Space: Spring by Julie Bogart
Just one book of a four-part collection, A Gracious Space offers up daily reflections that help you take a step back and consider how your thoughts and actions are affecting those you love. It builds your confidence, gives you goals, and reminds you that you aren’t on this homeschooling journey alone. I’m really enjoying how Julie ties her own experiences into the daily “lessons” before leaving the reader with a quote and a sustaining thought. I’ve even found myself skipping a day here or there as I delve deeper into the personal developments inspired by the topics.
My American Adventure by Amy Burritt
Broken down into 5 tours, this book tells the story of a 12-year-old’s great family adventure as they visit all 50 states in 50 weeks while traveling in an RV. She shares about the parks, the people, the sights, and even meeting the governor of each state!
My Eight Brothers by Martha Alexander
A collection of stories about growing up with a large family full of love, this is my current favorite of those I’m trading. It’s an all-around feel good book as Martha wonderfully introduces us to first the three oldest brothers, all of the eight individually, and then the five younger boys. I caught myself the other day making mental notes about their mama and some of her quirks that I love!
START by Jon Acuff
I’m just beginning to read START: Punch Fear in the Face, Escape Average, and Do Work That Matters. Perhaps it’s just chance that the one book I own about really kicking it to the fear of failure and going for your dreams has sat on my bookshelf for almost 2 years. I’ll admit that it’s probably a bit more of a subconscious choice than that though. Until now I’ve tackled the small business stuff, well, small. Sure, I can toss off the bowline and set sail on adventures like I’m running to the grocery store but truth be told; business scares me. So, I’ve stayed little, kept my head down, and been pretty quiet about some of the things I’d eventually love to see grow. Let’s see if START really can help me (and you!) punch fear in the face.
